Obama's Speech - Your Story
How did your school board, PTA/PTO, parents, students react? Did you broadcast Obama's speech live, why or why not? What were the reactions after the speech was over?
I broadcast the speech because I thought that it was important to show respect for our President. I was pretty surprised that there was such a negative reaction - regardless of your political beliefs, he IS the leader of our country and I think children need to hear him speak. I thought the speech was relevant and that his message to them about working hard and not giving up was powerful. My second graders and I had a great discussion after it was over. I posted a blog entry to let parents know about our discussion and several of them thanked me for showing it - there was only one parent who reacted negatively.
